Wayne's Wyrds of Wisdom: Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the same things that you appreciate and value into your life
Antoon introduced Lisette Hulme from Matamata to talk on Days for Girls
Speaker: Lisette spoke about the problem affecting about 50 million girls in poor countries.
Days for Girls is a program that provides Feminine Hygiene kits to impoverished girls whose culture still ostracises girls when they have their period. The program also teaches them about feminine hygiene and the natural cycles around menstrual cycles, pregnancy and related health. They teach the girls how to care for their kits, make new kits and help others in the villages feel confident to continue with their education and life while experiencing their menses.
Matama is currently filling orders for 1000 kits. Rotary is a leading provider of support and kits globally.
Denise Arnold has introduced Days for Girls into her 16 schools in Cambodia.
Wayne presented Lisette with a box of soaps to put into the kits.
Neville thanked Lisette for her caring and sharing of this problem.
Sergeant Session: Andy Cameron could not find any reason to fine people over the holidays but did share with the club stories and comments about resolutions and a story about a bear and a beer and how the bear was happy being short and stout.
He also recommended the book Shit My Dad Says and shared a few of the stories.
Parting Thought from Ian Burns: This is the time to welcome the New Year and remember that the only place success comes before work is the dictionary.
Dave Woodhouse will undertake carpentry work on our stand as the hinge broke - he needs to remember to bring it back next week.
