The meeting got off to lightening start with a brief grace by Eric cleverly disguised as  Bob, filling in as Sargent. Ursula was back at the helm. Great to see you back.

Susan Devoy couldn’t make it but our very own Principal soon not to be  Principal stepped in.
Eric rounded things off with an impromptu sergeants session assisted by his wife Pauline who offered to help then had to leave.

Speaker –  Pauline Cowans reflected on her 30 year teaching career and especially 17 years as Principal of Tauranga Girls College. 156 staff,1,400 young women under her guidance, but probably the hardest part is the 2,800 parents who have different views on education.
Some wee pearls of wisdom – If you haven’t p##d someone off in the day, you are not doing a good job.
Adorn the bird with feathers so they can fly. Find what feathers help make them fly.
Part of her legacy will be ranking Art, Sport and Academics equally. She allowed the girls to take risks and fail.
A very exciting future lies ahead Silversmith, writing and painting. Now free to express her opinions without the lens of a principal.
Sargent session
Eric gave us a walk through some military comparisons and a dob in for Dave Woodhouse who’s cat was the benefactor of a cake made by Mary .
