Notices
Our new President urged us to consider going to the District Future Leaders Forum: Details from Ursula.

Then, a warning: be ready for interrogation. Ursula is going to select a pair of members, one old & one new (Rotary age that is) to answer a brief series of questions as an intro at most meetings. Don't say you weren't warned.

Dave Woodhouse advised that the whisky tasting went very well, raising some $3400.

ROMAC: Glenys Parton told us that Fina from Vanuatu had had successful surgery in Hamilton, and then went into some detail on her leg wound, and the repair process. Great with breakfast. Some nameless wag suggested the addition of tomato sauce, but seriously, a great project.

Kathy Webb told us about a closing the gaps seminar,  featuring Jan Tinetti, and Don Brash, amongst others. Should be an interesting exchange of views. Mount Maunganui, 4pm, this Thursday 20 July. Free tickets from the eventbrite website.

Ursula then requested Committee Chairs to organise a separate 2ic , and minute taker as part of their process, and various lost souls relocated to their correct committee tables for their committee meetings.

Committee meeting reports

Events & PR: Warren Scobie reported that appointing a 2ic had been easy, as there were only 2 present. He needs to know, preferably in advance, when & where events organised by other committees are to occur.

New Generations : Dan  was standing in for David Robinson.  We need host families (3) for Rotary exchange students next year.
RYPEN is to be held from 16-18 March next year. Volunteers required soon. Treasured Art , committee starting up, to get into serious meetings in October.

Membership: Eric reminded us that this committee is not responsible for recruitment. We "culled" some non attenders last year (his words). We could do with a few more younger people. David Woodhouse has plagiarized a new members booklet from his old UK club. For proposed new members, Eric & team are going to interrogate these people first, before putting them up for membership. Hopefully, a select few will survive.

International: Pat found that many of the members were absent, overseas. Funny that. Projects on hand include supporting ROMAC & Shelter Box, looking at books for Tonga, and a new one, helping with a water tank for Fina's  (the girl whose leg repair was so graphically described by Glenys)  village in Vanuatu.

Foundation: Ray announced that mug collections will now take place every 3 months.

Community Service: Barbara advised that the Committee is to investigate & review local groups to find some suitable groups to assist.

Wayne, our past president then took the floor, advising that we had won the district ROMAC award, for most generous donations per capita. Immediately, this was presented to Glenys, our most active member for ROMAC. Apparently Maketu club was second.  Wayne has visited that club, finding it very active & involved.

On to the sergeant's session, featuring our most risque team member. one Stephen Dorrington. He did not disappoint.  Bill Holland won the raffle, AGAIN. Then on to rotary joke books, the difficulties of doing dry July,  the lack of anyone moaning about his sexual abilities, the difficulty of finding a rhyme for Shadbolt, the verbal abilities of a member's wife, matching socks & underwear to days of the week, or was it months?. An excellent way to start the day.

Parting Thought:  From Mark Twain via John Carlson: Too much of anything is bad. But too much of a good whisky is barely enough.
