Wayne's Wyrds of Wisdom:
A pessimist is one who makes difficulty of his opportunities. An Optimist is one who makes opportunities out of his difficulties.

Michelle and Scott gave a wonderful presentation on Youth Exchange.  As a result of Michelle participating in Youth Exchange in 1985. As a result of Michelle staying with the family she came home and went to University and became a successful business woman. Scott's family subsequently hosted 6 other exchange students. Michelle's family has visited Scott's family on several occasions and Scott came to live in NZ for a year. Youth exchange opens lives and minds. So if you want to know more .....
Connect with Dan if you are willing to have a young person live with you for a couple of months. We need at least 4 families to sponsor a Youth Exchange. Note - you DO NOT NEED children in the home to provide a homestay.

Chris introduced Mark as someone we need to watch carefully as he will change Tauranga and we need to support him.

Mark Wassung presented Tauranga Connect. Please review and support him.
The concept started when Mark was running for council and one morning at 2 am he awoke and laid the simple background for improving transport for the future and out growth. When Mark woke up the COLOUR for the project appeared.
Colour is important in transport. It helps people know where they are and where they are going not to mention that it adds vibrancy. Mark has presented a VISION to Regional council where the RED line is the backbone of the transportation. He spoke about using light rail, buses (either driven or driverless) and heavy rail to move people from Omokaroa to Te Puke. This would be the grey leg. The orange line loops to the beaches.  His plan would support seniors, Maori and students as well as the workers around Tauranga.  The green leg supports all the local bikers and would encourage more people to get out on bikes. The blue line would connect to the Port and help with those big cruise liners and the visitors enjoying our city.
Park and Rides would need to be developed but if congestion in the city and on main arteries is reduced, not to mention parking, then a good system would get everyone around.
The Gold Coast is a model for the work he is suggesting and the lessons learned there would help Tauranga build a system that works not just in the short term but in the longer term as well.
SO get on board. Take a look at the plans and let's support Mark.

Phil Mangoes did some strange things with glasses as he thanked Mark for his presentation and efforts to make Tauranga a great place to get around.

Sergeant Barry Vercoe swapped to be sergeant as he will be away for the next month. He asked us to seriously consider the Musica Series flyers he put on the tables (made some comment that we weren't high brow enough or something like that.). Click the link to find out more.
He then did fines using history and member names. The house of David had the longest history back to Mary and Joseph so Mary was fined. He then looked at the names in the Doomsday book - Mason, White, Banks, Brett, William, Bill. He then moved on to Robert the Bruce and looked at Cameron and other Scottish names. King James (and related James) led to wealth creation and how there is a need to share the wealth. Interesting pot history on names.

So you've been broken and you've been hurt

Show me somebody who ain't

You might need somethin' to hold on to

When all the answers, they don't amount to much

Somebody that you could just to talk to

Share a little of that Human Touch
