Visitors: Bill Robinson & Deb (Guest Speaker).
Ata mārie–from President Michele Beaton……A very prompt welcome to all, especially our Rotary Royalty. A lot to get through this morning…
FYI –

Simon had clearly been voluntold he was filling this gap….and he did so admirably. There were many quotes from the Luddites, who seemed to have an uncanny knack of predicting what didn’t happen. Sustainability will be written in the A.I. ether he tells us.
Guest Speakers: Bill tells us his introduction to Rotary was when he sent his

daughter on a matched exchange to Darwin of all places. Not sure if he was ever forgiven for that. Formally from central Hawkes Bay – where he can probably boast of playing centre court at Wimbledon & likely drank at the Dew Drop Inn at Walton too.
The International President for 2023-24 is Gordon R McInally, who comes from bonny Scotland, (national animal, the unicorn for any quizzer).
One of his primary focusses is on Mental Health.
Gordon poses the question :
Are you all right?
With a follow up question:
Are you really all right?
Maybe sometimes you ain’t he wonders. Sadly, he has some personal experience of this.
On a happier note, Bill told us about the largesse of the Rotary Foundation, and how we should participate actively in District Grants. Giving or receiving was not made clear. Maybe both.
There was talk of membership, Interact, training days, Urban Mines. Kids in Need Waikato – Bill’s favourite charity. Might be hard to get that over the line in the Bay.
Conference next year in in Cambridge. 17-19 May. If you know a guy, a few moments later, you too could be on fast forward to the tune or Yakety Sax and end up at the Don Rowland’s Centre at Karapiro. Looks promising.

Crystal Palace – Phil Mangos has grasped the nettle with this – only ten weeks to get organised. All those interested in helping (half the club) stayed behind after the meeting. 10/10 for enthusiasm.
Share the Warmth: Next week, this charity fundraiser – bring your $5. Rug up with your mittens and gloves, it’s Spencer weather. Brrrr…
