BULLETIN 14 MAY 2021

On this day in 1870, was it the first game of rugby played in NZ?

Around 200 people were on hand at Nelson’s Botanic Reserve to watch a game of football played under Rugby rules.

Sergeant Session: Dean Thompson
Dean confessed he was hardly qualified to speak about art given what was hanging on his walls, but attempted to define it anyway. “Art is a diverse range of human activities involving creative imagination fo express technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power or conceptual ideas.” So essentially art can be anything including sport. He pointed out that Leonardo da Vinci was a procrastinator who took 3 years for the Last Supper and 40 years for the Mona Lisa. Picasso was at one time accused of stealing the Mona Lisa, but it was someone else. Van Gogh only sold one painting in his lifetime and died penniless. Therefore support Treasured Art tonight.
