FYI: Chris Dever, former president. I had always pronounced his surname as in “Beaver”, only to hear that it is meant to be as in “EVER”. Sorry about that, Chris. He was discussing water management. We have lots of it. Anyway, a long calculation of the volume produced a total of 402,000,000,000,000 litres per annum. How to store it all? Chris left us with that dilemma.
Notices & Announcements
Shiv reported on the success of “Behind Closed doors”. It has been through several name changes, and much interrupted by COVID. Finally, successful last weekend, 162 tickets sold, with other fundraising items producing a total of over $2000. Big thanks to the team, particularly Viv, and Henry with his military way of doing things.
Lisa reported:
- A query on club support for a 16th Avenue Theatre show coming up soon. The general feeling was that there was insufficient notice for this to be a fundraiser, but there was interest in just attending as a club social visit. You have another email to answer on the question of a suitable date.

James Clague requested assistance with book pickup for Vanuatu schools. Thanks to those who volunteered on the spot.

Reflection and catchup time in groups

Sergeant at Arms – Graham Cornes told us about a project for Air New Zealand. As a veteran of airplane engineering, he has been tasked with keeping control over the ideas from a group of young people at Air NZ head office as to how to set up sustainable air travel using hydrogen, or electric, or whatever powered planes on NZ domestic routes. Experience from the old days, when planes only had enough fuel to get from A to B plus a bit will be invaluable.
