FROM PRESIDENT WARREN

Week One of Lockdown – so far so good 😊
A big shoutout to everyone in the Club for doing the right thing and supporting family, friends and yourselves.
Big changes in the last week have meant we need to look for better ways of doing things; these are proving to be quite efficient and rewarding. Technology is proving to be very useful. I do regret selling my last vacuum cleaner though. I sold it because it was gathering dust. (Groan -Ed)
The Board had a meeting last Tuesday via Zoom which enabled everyone to connect regardless of where they were, with some enjoying what looked like a classy meal and a glass of wine.
The Board looked at several areas needing attention and come up with a plan as to how to operate in the interim. This was about giving everyone an opportunity to remain in touch and to provide the support if or when required.
To this end we have complied a list of contacts that should cover all situations, so please do not hesitate to get hold of the relevant person. Please note we are setting up a breakfast meeting for next week via Zoom as well as a Friday Fives meeting tonight. If you haven’t already, you will need to download Zoom and when David sends out his invite all you need to do is accept the invite. If you require some assistance, then contact David Robinson.
The lockdown has given me time to notice the small things, e.g. I said to Carol the other morning she was drawing her eyebrows too high, she looked surprised.(Groan #2 -Ed)
Just remember keep doing the right thing and stay safe.

Warren Scobie
President

RYDA Report from Tauranga Te Papa
(via David Robinson)

Despite Tauranga Girls College having to park their RYDA course, we successfully managed to complete courses for Mount Maunganui College, Papamoa College, Katikati College and Whangamata College. The Tauranga Girls course will be rescheduled to later in the year subject to the current COVID 19 situation stabilizing. Another 700 or so Y12's enjoyed three excellently run RYDA courses this year already. As a result of the Katikati and Whangamata courses being facilitated in Waihi, we are fairly confident that we have also picked up Paeroa College.

In terms of course funding, we were successful in receiving a $5000-00 +GST Grant from the Regional Council, which has helped our funding pool considerably. This was on top of $1000-00 contributions from the RC's of Tauranga, Tauranga Sunrise and Papamoa who are the RYDA course partners together with lead club Tga Te papa. And not to overlook a District Grant of $5,000-00 awarded to lead club, RC of Tauranga Te Papa.

Course funding for 2020 has been fully assured and successfully funded. Maria. Pearl and the team at RSE/ RYDA are absolutely rapped with our area’s Rotary engagement. We need to acknowledge the sponsorship of Tauranga Ssangyong who have provided for us the vehicle used by RYDA in the outside class activity sessions. This car was also able to be used to transport several Rotarians to the Waihi course at no cost. If you are in the market for a new or used vehicle shortly, feel free to go down and visit Adam and his sales team at Tauranga Ssangyong. (when you can)

Monthly Rotary meeting payments

With the weekly Rotary meetings suspended for now and being unsure when the meetings may resume, it is prudent to advise members that they may wish to postpone their monthly contributions.
Members' contributions are credited in separate members accounts in Xero.
Accounting for $10/month donation to Centurion Fund from your personal account will continue as per your history.
If you want this to change please contact me directly
Some may prefer to continue their payments, which will be offset against the annual subscription, due in July.
Any questions or want to know your personal account balance please contact me.
