Visitors: Tim Dunn, Bob Tulloch, Darren Wisbey, Kessie Kohu (Guest Speaker)
Welcome–from President Indeevar – to a very “buzzy meeting”
Buddy led us in a minute’s silence for Kingi Tuheitia.
Guest Speaker – Kessie Kohu from Rau O Te Huia Community Trust. Kessie tells us the Trust has been operating since 2000 and is contracted by the MoH to provide Mental Health and Addiction support services. Located at 20th Ave, in the Hospital Campus, they cater for 9 permanent residents and can accommodate up to 12 transient ones
The mission statement is: “e tangata ,e tangata, e tangata” (It is people, it is people, it is people.) Staff boast a back catalogue of lived experience (which is now a job requirement). “They are ordinary people who have compassion.” She says.
The Good Bitches Baking is clearly the highlight of the week. “They are friendly too!”
Heartwarming stuff.
