Reported that the Friday Fives last week were great, and a few of our former members also came.
Also, an aide memoir for male members: Don’t buy flowers for another woman. This can lead to problems on the home front. Might I suggest that this may necessitate a visit to the jewelers. An expensive error by our president.
Bryan Winters: Surf Therapy trust. This is officially launching with an event at Classic flyers on 22 September at 6.30pm. All Club members are invited to join Bryan in this great cause to help women with mental health problems.
Our speaker, the one and only Glenn Dougal:
He taught us how to use AI to best effect. Those with a farming background might guess the meaning of the initials wrongly, but no cows are involved. Introduced by Dan Allen- Gordon, Glenn first gave us a list which detailed which of the many forms of AI specialized in which field. Us mere mortals tend to think of only the LLMs (keep up, this means Large Language Models, not a superior law degree now). A pity for those who have spent years toiling over legal texts. Then on to try to guess which of a series of “photos” were created from traditional photography, and which from AI. No one got it entirely right. Then images of models (no, not the LLM kind, real human beings, keep up) used by clothing brand Huffer in their adverts. Pending court case, I hope Huffer loses. Then on to how to use AI. The key is in the prompt. The more specific, the better. Use the correct technical terms when possible. Specify the level of output required. If a message to another human, specify the tone required. You can set up a separate project folder, and the LLM will learn from the other items in the folder and stop repeating mistakes.
Glenn urged us to try using AI as a tool for managing our data, hopefully not our whole lives. It certainly is a radical new tool if used well. (note from Sub Editor: we will endeavour to circulate Glenn's presentation when i've figured out this dam software in Club Runner:#*?$#)
