Guest speaker
One of our past members John Murie talked aboutWaipuna for Tomorrow and the Waipuna Hospice Foundation.
The DHB only funds 58% of the Hospic running costs and Wapiuna need to raise over $1.3m pa to break even.
The purpose of the Foundation is also to raise money for capital and running costs. With over $7m spent in development in recent years this is a big commitment and a very worthy cause.

Sergeant  - Simon Beaton not only immersed himself in the French language on his recent sojourn but came back  with some very impressive Latin  descriptions for fear of Friday the 13th. Gone are the das of dodging black cats or walking under ladders. Simon suggested Decaphobia was the fear of Friday the 13th, alas he has missed by 3 days as further research by this weeks editor  has found the fear of Friday the 13th is actually Paraskevidekatriapobia. Rumour has it that if you can pronounce this word you a well cured of the phobia.
Anyway in 10/1307 The Knights Templers weren’t that keen on the date, in 6/1930 the first UK Nudist colony was founded. A plane crashed in Uruguay with the national soccer team on board and Margaret Thatcher was born.
Thankfully Mike Batchellor our oracle on things Latin was able to chime in and save the day on some very tricky pop quiz questions
Parting Thought Life may not be the party we all hoped for but while we are here we should dance.
