Welcome–from President
WE ARE BACK – President Indeevar welcomed us back to the Tauranga Club venue which has been refreshed and is again open for business.
Guest Speaker. District Governor Nick Dangerfield
A very engaging presentation by the DG who is a member of Tauranga Te Papa Rotary club.
Nick introduced the World Rotary President – Stephanie Urchick from the USA and her vision
“The Magic of Rotary”. Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Nick encouraged us to utilise the many Rotary and personal development resources available to us as Rotarians via the My Rotary.org website. Strongly encouraging us to create our login and just browse the site, the Rotary stories, inspiration and learning resources.
There is a new operating model for Rotary which is more club focused. Suggesting that as a club we strive to be what we are best at – not necessarily try to be average at everything.
The old Rotary Zone 8 is being transformed into Rotary Pacific and includes NZ, Australia and all the Pacific Islands.
2025 Rotary Conference will be a joint conference with district 9920 and will be held in Rotorua next May 2025. This will be exciting, as joining with 9920 includes all clubs North of Hamilton and includes Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. The added diversity and 9920 input to the conference will be refreshing.
As a parting thought to our meeting Nick reminded us of what Paul Harris said
“Regardless of whatever Rotary means to us, to the world, Rotary will be known by the results it achieves.”
