A inspiring presentation zoom presentation by Michelle Beaton  and Lynda Burch on the 2020 Vanuatu School Books2020 Vanuatu School Books project. The books were sort from Libraries,Tauranga Intermediate, Mt Maunganui Intermediate, Mt Maunganui College, Otumoetai College, Omanu School, Mangatapu School, GreenPark School and Western Bay Libraries.Committee members culled nearly half of the books supplied due to cultural differences, relevance, or fantasy/witchcraft based. (such as Harry Potter). The books had to be packed into waterproof containers and wrapped with plastic wrap to protect from weather and potentially future cyclones and were shipped out in November 2020  and arrived Dec 2020. The books were stored locally until schools opened in Feb 2021.The project is planned to run again this year.If you are keen to get involved, contact International Director Lynda Burch.

EXTRA!
A slideshow and short presentation on the 10 year anniversary of the Rena sinking was given by Ross Brown. The exhibition will run form 5 October 2021 ( 10 years to the day the Rena hit Astrolabe Reef) to 18 October  along the roadside along Coronation Park  Mt Maunganui and then on The Strand in Tauranga until 15 November. Ross and his brother Graeme Brown were the official photographers to Maritime NZ and supplied images and video to the world’s media. This is the first time  the images have been shown as a single collection. There will be 20 photos displayed on large outdoor stands. The principle sponsor for the display is The BOP Regional Council and Ross is looking for support from other business to help fund the project.
