Club Stories
The communities we support in Vanuatu have been devastated by the many severe weather events that have hit Vanuatu over the last few years. This project is designed to strengthen these communities through providing sewing machines, fabric and materials to groups of women in five areas across Vanuatu. These women are earning a living sewing clothes for their families, and making items for the people on the many cruise ships that visit the area.

The Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise Environment Committee would like to invite you to mark the first milestone of our project to raise awareness of pollution of Te Awanui-Tauranga harbour by stormwater.
Tuesday 14th December at 10.30.
Ngai Tamarawaho kaumatua Tamati Tata will bless a site on the Strand opposite Red Square, immediately before “drain socks” are fitted to two stormwater outlets.
Extensive promotion, we hope, will stimulate ‘copy-cat’ projects in the community.
Your presence will be part of this promotion!
Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise has a new and very active Environment Committee
Activities of the new Environment Committee:

  • Pest Control in Kopurererua Valley: we’re part of the Rotary Clubs of Tauranga drive to establish and maintain bait-lines in K-Valley.
  • Students 4 the Environment: This project involves monthly Sunday morning events (for instance: planting, weeding, trap-line management…) organised specially for high school and tertiary students. So far we’ve co-hosted three events and an amazing group of students, dedicated to actively mitigating climate change linked environmental damage.
